Different media, but I always bring a notebook with me when I travel. I’m away fro a weekend right now and even brought a chapter I’m currently editing because who knows when I’ll have time to work on it or what inspiration will strike!
I have a tiny dry-media (graphite) travel sketchbook, but I always forget it. I'm not ready to give up yet, but what has worked much better in the past is to carry my actual current sketchbook, and just grab 1-3 pens/pencils/pastels on my way out the door. I never forgot to do that.
That’s a great way to go about it too. I imagine it’s somewhat easier with dry media to grab a handful of supplies and go. And sketching on the go/on location never fails to throw up interesting motifs and inspiration.
It was so wonderful to see you putting together your art kit, Shinj. I carry a notebook with me when I travel. It feels incomplete without having my notebook and pen.
