Oh my Goddess! Thank you so much for your article on balance. Balance is also something that has eluded me and I have been less than compassionate about it with myself. I love how you help us identify the difference between loss of balance due to a passion project and due to adhering to toxic hustle culture. This is so freeing! Thank you, Thank you!
what a great article, being 71 and in a constant struggle to find some balance between having ms,household and my art, this made me very happy, a lot i can let go now, gives me more time to play and less to truggle with and think about, thank you
I was listening to a podcast recently where they were talking about intrinsically motivated work as opposed to work we feel obligated to do from external factors. I think this coincides beautifully with your point. When I'm "working" on my writing, I don't feel the need for strict work/life boundaries because it makes me feel alive. When I'm doing something because I feel like I should or have to, it's draining and feels more like "work."
Always fun to have these conversations in community!
Ah yes! Intrinsically motivated work is always so much more pleasurable than and life giving than things we feel obligated to do, what I tend to call “performative productivity”. These are indeed interesting conversations to have in community!

You’re so very welcome! I’m so glad this distinction feels freeing. Here’s to more passion projects!
