Love this piece. I always have sound going - TV, podcasts, music - but more and more have realized the value in pausing that and creating space for "silence" (which, as you've so well-described, is not silent at all but rich in soft sounds.)
This made me think of the Slow Looking events at MoMA which I've attended a few times via Zoom. I'm not sure if any more are planned but basically they give a little intro then they share a piece of art work and provide time (I think about seven minutes per art piece) to just all sit quietly and observe the art together. You can meditate or draw or write or whatever as you look. Then there's a short sharing of a few words and then the next piece. Sometimes the pieces are accompanied by music designed to complement them and sometimes not. It's all about slowing down together and creating space.
I will look up the Slow Looking event & try and attend -- time zone permitting -- if they have any more planned. It sounds like a great way to slow down and really see and interact with art.
I’m love sharing my art journals -- good to know you enjoy seeing them. <3
Do you find that making space for silence changes the way you approach your creativity?
I think it allows me to think more deeply which improves my writing and also generally allows for more ideas to flow. By turning off other people’s voices i can hear my own better.
That has been my experience too. I find I write much better in the silence, or perhaps with a bit of instrumental music. With art, music and silence create their own kinds of experiences...
How wonderful, silence is SO golden especially at this time in the world. I live in Oregon, so I’ll check Fog Chaser out. I feel like we are kindred spirits.
I loved this and it was so appropriate for today. I was awakened at 5:30 by a fierce lightning and thunder storm with heavy rain. The sounds were awesome. I usually have morning news on in the background as I go about getting ready for the day but today? No, ma'am. It was a soothing and restorative start to my day and I'm still hanging on to the feelings it evoked. Thank you for this, Shinjini. I appreciated it so much.
Oh, that sounds like a powerful start to the day. I love thunderstorms, the crackling of energy, and the sound of steady, heavy rain is soothing indeed!

I think you will enjoy his monthly music meditations! Happy listening :-)

Loved this Shinjini! And especially loved the final art, Bloom. I showed it to my daughter also and she loves it too ❤️
Thanks so much Namrita!! <3
I am learning so I am watching tutorials. As I do work though I like the silence.
Interesting - I wonder if that is because you find it easier to concentrate and apply what you’ve learnt?
I do think so. I am precise by nature so I am trying to do my best and make it good. Even though I am learning.
I wish you a lot of joy in your art, Belinda! <3
Thank you so much. I sincerely appreciate your well wishes.
