Dear Creative You,
There you stand at the very edge…at the precipice of all that you’ve learnt and all that you know.
Your creative work flows behind you in a trail of beauty and inspiration. But here you are, at the edge of all that you know, staring far into the distance, wondering if this is it.
Things are feeling a wee bit stale, are they not? Or maybe you’re feeling a wee bit stuck, somewhat meh, like you’re lacking any more creative ideas or inspiration.
This is simply a part of the creative process, Dear Creative You. A growth edge, if you will.
But you’re not convinced, are you? Even though you’ve been here, so many times before. And even though you’ve taken some stunning leaps, your creativity flowing in waves of rainbow colored majesty.
In your heart of hearts, you know it’s just a matter of time. It’s simply a matter of finding a small kernel of inspiration. A whispered word. An idea that comes fully formed in your mind in the middle of the night. A painting you see. A phrase you hear. And you’ll be off running, once again.
And yet, your mind throws up dark clouds of fear. Look beyond them, Dear Creative You. Go on a wonder seeking adventure.
Listen to the podcast.
Crank up the music.
Take the time to sit down and watch that video.
Riffle through your notebooks for inspiration.
Seek beauty wherever you can find it.
And before you know it, you’ll feel that familiar fizz of inspiration firing up your neurons. And you’ll be leaping forward, arms stretched out, ready to create again.
Love,
The Muse.
A Museful invitation for you

The FREE Creative Retreat Weekend is this weekend, on 13 and 14 July.
Get ready for a smorgasbord of art and creativity, with 24 absolutely amazing lessons from 24 leading artists from the mixed media and art journaling community, including yours truly!
I know, I know. 24 lessons sounds like a lot! Pick a few of the lessons that really call to you and focus on those first. You have permission to not do it all.
The weekend will be overflowing with inspiration, creativity and community, and you really wouldn't want to miss it!
My lesson this weekend is called Wild Soul and I loved creating it for you! Think yummy layers, luscious colors, and playful, intuitive fun! Here’s a little sneak peek for you:
To prepare, you'll want to have some colorful under paper or paper that's already been marked up with some paint or collage, and we'll build things up from there. It will be so much fun, I promise.
And here’s a little teaser of what’s in store for you during the weekend and beyond {if you choose to sign up for the year-long workshop.}
And if you want to keep your creative well primed, consider joining us for the year long adventure, Make Create Express, at the early-bird rate {prices go up after the Creative Retreat weekend}. To learn more or to register click HERE.
Let’s chat!
I love chatting with you in the comments or via e-mail. Here are a few questions to help us get the conversation rolling.
Where do you seek wonder as it relates to your creative practice?
Have you ever felt bored or stuck with your creative practice, and how did you pull yourself out of the funk?
Where do you go for inspiration?
Should we make Letters from the Muse a regular feature? I’m thinking a letter followed by a prompt or invitation related to the theme that comes up.
These are beautiful works! I'm not much of a visual artist (seriously, I suck at it) but I love that you're urging and inspiring others to be the most creative beings they can be <3
Beautiful. After decades of creative life and work, I usually do know that the ebbs will begin to flow again, and I have lots of practices for navigating the lulls, but sometimes I still panic and wonder if there's nothing left in me!
