I just finished reading The Schubert Treatment by Claire Oppert which is about her work going into hospitals/care homes to play cello for people with dementia, autism, people in the last days of life. Her descriptions of how music fills the body - for example, patients on the verge of death who can't even open their eyes respond to her playing with a change in blood pressure and visibly deeper breathing - are so moving.
