Dear Creative You,
There you stand, ready to embark towards a new shore. Leaving behind all that you knew, all that you were, all that was familiar. The path behind you shimmers with the rich, jeweled toned of your art. The way forward appears somewhat murky, though there are glimmers of stardust faintly lighting up your way.
And though the path ahead is mysterious, the destination yet unknown, the one thing you know with certainty is that you need to shake things up. Your creativity feels stagnant, forced, contrived.
But ask yourself, Dear Creative You: Is it really true? Or is it the little gremlins in your head that fill you with doubt and make you question your every move every now and then?
It’s true that we sometimes need to change up our creative practices. To infuse them with freshness. But things aren’t as hopeless as you’ve convinced yourself, and your creativity hasn’t been exhausted.
Far from it! You may need a dose of inspiration, a period of experimentation, of play, of trying your hand at a different art form, perhaps. If you usually write, try painting. If you usually paint, try collage.
Switch up your usual practices. Be a beginner again. And that spark will ignite once again, when you least expect it.
Come closer, Dear Creative You, let me whisper something in your ear….
YOU ARE RADIANT!
You truly are!
Do you see what I do? The golden glow filling your belly, the seat of your creative fire; your mind expanding, tendrils of thoughts expanding out into the Universe, as you pull fragments of images and hints of ideas from the ether.
And do you see how those hints and fragments can simmer and stew in the cauldron of your belly, until they are infused with your magic and emerge fully formed from the tips of your fingers and through your brush, your pen, your keyboard…
YOU ARE MAGIC!
Don’t let the gremlins convince you otherwise!
Love,
The Muse
A Museful invitation for you
A handful of prompts and invitations to help you to re-enchant your creative practice.
If you’re feeling uninspired and meh about your creative practice, consider trying a new medium or maybe learn a new art form. You never know what sparks may fly when you do!
Follow your threads of curiosity. Spend some time immersed in new ideas, in areas that are completely different from your sphere of creativity. You may see new shimmering pathways beckoning to you — and some ways to braid the various strands of your interests and creativity together in some way.
When you’re feeling disenchanted with your creative practice, immersing yourself in an e-course or classroom environment can be immensely helpful. For one, you get a front-row view of someone else’s creative practice, which is always inspiring. Second, you don’t have to think about a creative project from scratch — you can simply follow along with the lesson that is being taught and learn something new.
On that note, I have a very special invitation coming your way next week! Keep your eyes on your inbox so you don’t miss the invitation!!
