From trash to treasure: Junk journal flip through

A flip through of my mixed media junk journal to spark your creativity, plus some notes on how I bound this journal.

This adorable little scrappy journal that you see in the image above makes my heart sing — every time I look at it, work in it, and now that it is complete, every time I flip through its pages.

I’m absolutely enchanted with the way the pages extend out of the cover, with all the luscious bits of art just inviting you to open up the journal, play, and flip through the pages.

This is also the first time that I put together a full fabric cover, and I love how soft and squishy it is! I dyed some fabric scraps using watered down fountain pen ink, food color, and fabric dyes, and if you are wondering if the colors held up, the answer is yes! It’s been roughly a year since I dyed these fabrics, and the colors are as bright as they were on day 1.

Fill your mailbox with art and creativity!

As you can see in the image below, I filled up the journal with a variety of papers — there are book pages, collage papers, under paper from my art table, freezer paper, cheap printer paper, Gelli prints that didn’t quite work out, brown wrapping paper from Amazon, and paper bags that I opened up and tore down to size.

I love how all of this trash got turned into treasure!
